Hallo Hallo…strangers I guess. Long time no see (or hear), but read! πŸ™‚

We’ve had a busy busy month or 2, work, packing, work, moving, unpacking, work, work… and more work!

Decided to do a photo story:

Jessica Perdjies Kyk

We’ve been out buying a Potty, had to test it before we buy it (with pants on! ;))

We painted the new house, about two weeks before we moved (luckily it was standing empty!)

We packed (and packed and packed). Here Jessice helped unpack the ‘tupper cupboard’ and unwrapped all the straws we had…

Jessica ‘won’ a cousie πŸ™‚ Baby boy, 2.9kgs, 22 Feb.
If you ask her where he came from, she points to her tummy and tells you ‘hy het uitgeklim’ (he climbed out ) – Precious!

Jessica hiding between her Giant Dolls, (in her pram mind you). The dolls use to be bigger than her, but she’s caught up!

Jessica ‘groot speel’. We discovered this gem of a ‘play ground’ in Clubview (Centurion) C’est Lavie (http://c-estlavie.co.za/). Its got a Tea Garden for the Mom’s (great food), then play sections for the littles ones (0-2, 3-4 etc) water games for the older kids @ R30 per child, not too shabby. Reserve a spot to avoid disapointment!
Jessica calls it the “groot speel”….

We’ve been Shoe Shopping for the tiny big feet! πŸ™‚
I just love these ‘wellies/ gumboots’ a bit big, but will last her the winter!

And last but not least…we’ve been eating a lot! πŸ™‚

We’ve started the Pottytraining this week, going slow – she does better at school than at home, think its those mini toilets she likes! We’ll get there eventually. Please can anyone tell me how did you do the night thing? She still (wants to) sleep in her cot, only takes naps on the ‘big bed’. And the whole drinking late thing? How do you tell your child sorry no more liquids after xx:xx pm? She still wants her milk in the evening with bedtime – and she finishes about 200ml! Which is the other ‘problem’ she wants her milk in nothing else but her bottle… She eats well otherwise, I dont know – maybe its Mommy being scared or afraid of all the changes, she’s not my little baby anymore. ;(

She’s turning 2 in less than 2 months *gasp* Have to start planning the party, which will just be at the school again, and then a family day – thinking of going to the zoo! She will love all the animals. Dont know what theme we will do this year – was thinking lady bugs… will see how far I get with that.

Let me get back to work….

Have a Wonderful Easter Weekend Everyone!!

  1. I also believe in testing out the loo before buying it. The salesmen were having a giggle at me sitting on the loos, lying in the baths and taking pretend showers.
I’ve got some fab “rules” for potty training. Pop me a mail and I’ll send them. Sent them to quite a few P24 mums and we’ve all had success. I think it might be a while before you get the night thing down tho. It’s all about bladder control. Liam will be 4 in July and we only potty trained 6 months ago. Some mornings he has a dry nappy and some a wet one. There doesn’t seem to be a difference whether he drinks or not, but the teachers at his school say if bedtime is 8pm, no liquids after 6pm, so like 2 hours before she goes to bed I guess.
I have a phobia about those ball pits at the play parks. Have you read about all the k@k that might be in there. Blegh, but I’m funny that way.
    Your new kitchen looks stunning!
Love the wellies. DH wants to get me some. NOT!
Gorgeous pics, and awwwww on winning a cousie.

    • I should try that next time – testing out the bathrooms goodies! Im sure the salespeople have probably seen it all! πŸ™‚

Thanks – will pop you an email. Ive been searching on the internet, but nothing makes sense or they dont specifics. I just feel bad telling her no drinking after a certain time, dont think she will grasp why not!

She loves those balls…. I did a brief check, only leaves in that ‘pit’ πŸ™‚ Also washed & wipes the hands a few time *thank you detol wipes*

Thanks, I love the kitchen too, was a big selling point when we bought the place, garden looks crap, but the kitchen I love! πŸ˜€

Its tempting getting some wellies, except we dont have the wet winters, and in any boots I tend to look like a walking girafe… lol
Cousie so cute and tiny – its weird looking at him and Jessica, knowing she was just as small many moons ago…

  2. Oh my word, I just typed a whole LONG reply, and then my captcha code was wrong and it threw my whole post out.

So nice to catch up with u, love the photo story!

    Happy Easter too!

  3. Hi Shaz,
It is great to see you back again, and I love the pics. Your little one is so sweet. We are only at 18 months so we have not tried any potty training yet. We did take away Honeybear’s bottle a month ago. He would only sleep with a bottle. And then whenever he woke, he did not know how to sleep without a bottle of milk.
We bought three kinds of sippy cups (all without valves) and we started giving all the daytime milk in the cup. Our night routine was bath, massage and milk (in a cup). He refuses the milk sometimes, so I make sure he has other dairy and I do not worry about missed milk.
We changed it around so he had milk, bath and massage. The first night he fussed abit and the second night he fussed and the third night he turned over and went to sleep without the bottle. We just made sure to sit by his cot and talk quietly so he knew we were there and he did not get too upset about life without a bottle. This week we have stopped the bottle completely. So none to daycare either. And he is fine. Maybe it is different with a younger child? Good Luck, I don’t think you need to worry about the bottle and nappies at night, they eventually stop doing these things and you feel a little bereft.

    • Thanks MamaCat (apologies for the late reply).
We’ve tried different cups, sippy cups etc – she’ll drink cow’s milk from them, but not the formula… And she just loves her bottle before bedtime!
They dont do bottles and dummies at school, but at home is a fight! Trying to pick the battles carefully and one at a time! πŸ™‚

Honeybear sounds like such a cuty pie – and easy to ‘train’! You are surely doing it right!

  4. Hi Sharon!
I see my comment I posted on your blog is still awaiting moderation, so not sure if it went through!
I’m going to copy and paste it here and try again, not sure what happened! Hope you get it!!

    • Hi Jess,

Nee jong hierdie Ma is net ‘stadig’ as dit by die moderation kom!

      xx
