Of Birthdays (post 2)

I feel I should almost reintroduce myself! My previous blogs name was Shaz or Mommy Shaz. It hasn’t been active for a very long time. (old post imported: done!)

Some of the birthday piccies…Β  Mommy’s been Pinteresting too much, so I had visions of this fairy tale princess party. If only I had a bottomless purse. Got a lot of the ideas off Pinterest – and if you need I still have loads of templates for a Sophia Party (from invites, cake toppers etc…) all for Mahala. Sorry etsy.com – you have the nicest but priciest things. Sophia paraphernalia only starting to appear in our local shops now….

I made the cake myself – very proud of this creation! Jessica still ate pieces of fondant towers for about a week after!

With her chums on the jumping castle, they banned boys off it – her poor cousin was not impressed!

Some of the table decor – I loved the fresh pink roses. Jessica helped to decorate the frame below, even helped with the painting. I must now print a photo and put it in her room. My (not so) Little Princess.

We gave her a pink bicycle, which she loves and she rides it quite well by herself already. Especially because she never really liked those black push bikes… Oh well so we learn!

Still want to make her some tussles for the handles!

Happy Monday and Week to everyone! Hope to share more of us here…

Of Birthdays….

Apologies to those that use to follow my old Blog on Parent24, which died a quiet and not so painful death… along with most blogs on that side.

Between being a Mom, Wife and Worker (employee) time wasnt on my side.

So since my last post (which was roughly a year ago *gasp*) Jessica has grown into a beautiful little girl, no longer a baby nor toddler. She turned 3, 2 weeks ago. I loved planning her party and getting things just right. We had a Sophia themed princess party. Much to my dismay she wanted to change the party a few times…. spiderman, penguins, hello kitty…. luckily I could convince her Princess was the way to go! πŸ™‚ Dont you just love Pinterest??

Anyways, as some of the Mom’s have blogged before, I invited about 10 friends from school and only 3 had the decency to RSVP. I considered being rude and send out an SMS reminding them to RSVP…and if they don’t I’ll accept it as a NO! Inconsiderate people…

Regardless the party ended up with 8 kids and 20 adults! We hired a pink jumping castle, which was a big hit with the kids (and cheap at R250 for the whole weekend). With the help of my Mom and Sister we did all the snacks self. In retro spect, next time I’ll just order a platter or two from somewhere! πŸ™‚ Enjoyed meeting some of the other mom’s, actually getting to know them apart from the normal Hello’s and Good Bye’s at school. Time for play dates and all that jazz… we havent dont much of that yet. Weekends are normaly consumed by long lists of ‘to do’ things. Have to start somewhere making friends.

We bought her a little bicycle – she loves it. Keeps checking if she can ride in the house. So cute! She catching on quickly on how to cycle,Β  and she asks for her helmet – doesnt ride without it!

I’ll post some piccies as soon as Im up and running fully on this side.

*PS: please can someone tell me how to import my old Parent blogs to this one??

Its been a while again…. How about an update!? lol

First Piccies…

LadyBug Cake

My first try at a ‘3-D cake’. Very chuffed with it!

Fatherly Love
– Just LOVE this photo…found a great photo editing app…

Mini Me…

1.) How old today?
2 years, 2 wks and 3 days

2.) New milestones/ talents/ achievements?
wow there are many. busy with some of the last teething (I hope). Potty Training going very well, except she still wont poo in the loo…
3.) Favourite toys & favourite things to do?
She discovered Barney and Teletubbies just before her 2nd birthday, she loves that! Mommy not so much, but at least I can convince her most days to watch Shrek… πŸ˜‰
She’s starting to play more dolls – calls them her baby’s, and she feeds and rocks them…
She’s started ‘singing’ Vissies in die water & twinkle Twinkle little star are favorites (sure she cant keep the tune lekker or know the words, but she tries!)
She loves my phone & iPad – she’s a wizz on those things, knows exactly where she’s “going”.
Imaginary play also coming on well!
4.) Current words?
More like sentences! She is a little “pappegaai” (and tells you that), she repeats everything as you say it. And she gets it all right, even with some english inbetween! Maybe its just me, but she seems to be quite ahead of the other kids when it comes to talking. Saves us some tantrums, cos we can chat about what she wants etc.

5.) Favourite food and snacks?
She loves chips nowadays, anything meaty (chicken, mince, chops etc), pasta at times, veggies not so much, Chocolate a Big favorite (daddy’s girl). She’s got a book with pictures of animals etc and there’s a fishy in – not allowed to eat fishies, although she doesnt mind fishfingers!

6.) How is toddler sleeping at night?
Still Good! Goes to bed between 19h30 – 20h00, sleeps until she hears us in the morning 06h30 weekdays, 07h00 on weekends *bliss*

7.) Day naps?
Only 1, for about 2hrs. at school its after lunch around 12h30, at home mostly late afternoon 15h00-ish,

8.) How many teeth – and how are teething issues going?
17, seems another set of molars are emerging. Bottom left already out. (had a lekker fever just this weekend thanks to the tooth!

9.) Weight and length?
As per Paed on her 2yr check up: 11.2kgs. No idea how tall she is (cant get her to stand still so long..lol)

10.) Clothing size and shoe size?
Wearing from 6-12 to 18-24mtns clothes, depending on the cut/brand and how optimistic mommy was when she bought it… Shoes bought size 5 or 6 for winter. Woolies are some of the few that stock the toddler size 6’s…

11.) Recent toddler β€˜highs’?
Saying “ek is lief vir ….” although the first time she said it, it was to the cat…

12.) Recent toddler β€˜lows’?
Hitting while ‘playing’… Tantrums of course, at least its not all the time, but I try to ignore it and just walk away… (which is hard)

13.) What are you looking forward to in the coming months?
We are going on our annual holiday beginning of Sept, Jessica will get to meet her Great Grand Ma! πŸ™‚

14.) How are mommy and daddy doing?
Very well. Mommy signed up for “BootCamp” I call it Booty Camp, where you get your Booty back! hehe πŸ™‚ Sofar so good, enjoying the exercise although Im mostly last with EVERYTHING and SLOWER than everyone else – Im not there to be the best or make friends, Im there to do the best I can and make everyone else look good in the process! LOLΒ  Signed up for the 2nd one already. Nice to do something for myself! Goal is to loose 10kgs before we go on holiday – optimistic? Perhaps – but I will try my darnest!

Photo update

Hallo Hallo…strangers I guess. Long time no see (or hear), but read! πŸ™‚

We’ve had a busy busy month or 2, work, packing, work, moving, unpacking, work, work… and more work!

Decided to do a photo story:

Jessica Perdjies Kyk

We’ve been out buying a Potty, had to test it before we buy it (with pants on! ;))

We painted the new house, about two weeks before we moved (luckily it was standing empty!)

We packed (and packed and packed). Here Jessice helped unpack the ‘tupper cupboard’ and unwrapped all the straws we had…

Jessica ‘won’ a cousie πŸ™‚ Baby boy, 2.9kgs, 22 Feb.
If you ask her where he came from, she points to her tummy and tells you ‘hy het uitgeklim’ (he climbed out ) – Precious!

Jessica hiding between her Giant Dolls, (in her pram mind you). The dolls use to be bigger than her, but she’s caught up!

Jessica ‘groot speel’. We discovered this gem of a ‘play ground’ in Clubview (Centurion) C’est Lavie (http://c-estlavie.co.za/). Its got a Tea Garden for the Mom’s (great food), then play sections for the littles ones (0-2, 3-4 etc) water games for the older kids @ R30 per child, not too shabby. Reserve a spot to avoid disapointment!
Jessica calls it the “groot speel”….

We’ve been Shoe Shopping for the tiny big feet! πŸ™‚
I just love these ‘wellies/ gumboots’ a bit big, but will last her the winter!

And last but not least…we’ve been eating a lot! πŸ™‚

We’ve started the Pottytraining this week, going slow – she does better at school than at home, think its those mini toilets she likes! We’ll get there eventually. Please can anyone tell me how did you do the night thing? She still (wants to) sleep in her cot, only takes naps on the ‘big bed’. And the whole drinking late thing? How do you tell your child sorry no more liquids after xx:xx pm? She still wants her milk in the evening with bedtime – and she finishes about 200ml! Which is the other ‘problem’ she wants her milk in nothing else but her bottle… She eats well otherwise, I dont know – maybe its Mommy being scared or afraid of all the changes, she’s not my little baby anymore. ;(

She’s turning 2 in less than 2 months *gasp* Have to start planning the party, which will just be at the school again, and then a family day – thinking of going to the zoo! She will love all the animals. Dont know what theme we will do this year – was thinking lady bugs… will see how far I get with that.

Let me get back to work….

Have a Wonderful Easter Weekend Everyone!!

Heppy heppy…

I dont even know where to start – Im starting to get a complex apologising all the time for being so absent on the blogs… and actually in life in general.

Since the last post, what end Nov… we’ve had my sister’s baby shower beginning of Dec. I did the cake – was very impressed with myself. At first it was like a mountain ahead of me, until I relaxed and then it was fun! πŸ™‚ Remember I told you I had a brilliant idea, something for guest participation. Well, I got some wooden blocks (well bought a pole and had it cut at the local BuildersWarehouse) bought some paint and brushes and asked the guests to decorate the blocks for the little one. Also stenciled in the Alphabet. Was a great idea in theory, not so easy to carry out as not everyone decorated a block and skillls not the same, but still the thought that counts. My sister’s son ruined was a bit over enthusiastic and painted over other people’s art… My mom and I tried to save/ refurbish what we could. But it was still a great gift to my sister. Next time I will rather get the people to ‘decopage’ or get more stencils and draw pics…. lol Oh wait, there wont be a nex time! *phew*

The rest of December went by in a blur.. being sick, having a sick child etc… (all flu, Im still coughing) We had a few days off between Christmas& New Years. Took things easy, actually didnt do much. Jessica had a few 1sts:

1st swim in big pool (at granny house – whom she now calls ‘ma)

Her first sip of a creamsoda float at wimpy (naughty I know…)Β  Excuse the mozzie bites on her cheek..

Her first bite of a dougnut, although she was more interested in picking the chocolate icing off πŸ™‚

Her Christmas Fairy Dress (made me think of our Little Minki’s dress…) didnt last long before we had to change into something a bit more play-able! πŸ™‚

Christmas & New Years were uneventful – we had Christmas lunch for days with all the left overs! I didnt mind at all – one thing less to do!Jessica woke just past midnight on New Years, hard to sleep with bloody crackers doing off everywhere. Anyway when I got to her, she was standing in her cot, pointing to the window (noise & lights) sayingΒ  ‘oh oh’! we showed her the fireworks and she only fell asleep about 2hrs later…

Jessica is saying to many words at the moment, and making animal noises. I keep telling myself I should make a list, but its gonna be a long one! πŸ™‚Β  The school said end of the school year, she doesnt have a wide vocabulary, I just think she doesnt want to talk to them! Her latest are: “skiesie” (sorry), when she bumps you or want to pass etc. and if something goes wrong or falls she says “Oo koeks” terribly cute! πŸ™‚ Also started calling me mummy/mammie in stead of mamma… not sure where she picked that up!
also a real miss independent, dont sommer try and help with anything! πŸ™‚ She has started being fussy with food. Wont eat fresh fruit, no matter how I try it….but she eats her ‘padta’ (pasta) πŸ™‚

For 2013 I have high hopes… May it be less hectic, more time for myself and my family, may I get more done, may our health be better this year, and just in general be a GOOD YEAR!!!

We are moving house the end of Feb. We finally got a home loan on the house we liked, now the next obsticle is the bloodsucking laywers (sorry for the laywers among us). Just when you think everything is covered, then they hit you with more costs… for both our house and the new one. At lease we ‘hussled’ with the new house transfer laywers and they gave us a bit of discount… Agents should really inform their clients better of ALL possible costs… after all this we wont have a lot of savings left to fixup the things we wanted to. again another stress for me, but should chill about it, it will get done eventually! πŸ˜‰

anyhoo Im writing a book….

HAPPY 2013 to all of you!!! and dont forget: hug a lamppost ever so often…

Pole hugger…:)

(I cant even begin to explain that one….LOL)

Randoms..unrandom title… :)

Hallo dear all.

Hope everyone is doing well – see the blogs are going quieter again! Hopefully its because everyone is busy with work and its not something else keeping you away! PS: How is Ladee & Maddy doing, anyone??

Its been lekker busy at work, shouldnt complain, it keeps this boat afloat! hehe πŸ˜‰ Hubby has been working overtime, Jessica is teething (again), Im busy arranging a babyshower and life is just hectic with this year end rush! Im skoon poegaai and there’s no holiday rainbow at the end of all this! lol

Where to start…Β  sommer in a random order:

Work – hectic busy, but its good – holding thumbs for decent xmas bonus this year. Big Up a good client came back for their ‘anual bookings’ *grins*
I have also finally 6mnths on, moved my desk to the ‘bosses’ side. Room with a view comes to mind – I now no longer look at a hangar and aircraft taking off, but have a very tranqual scene of a green valley, with trees and the occasional cow’s walking past. Nice for day dreaming eh! πŸ™‚ only down, cant see if there’s rain coming, love to watch the storm clouds build up over the highveld! Some of the other people looking at me funny sitting in my ex bosses desk – and no I didnt get her titleor salary…Β  just her duties! lol

The House Buying thing: so we found a house, which we loved, wasnt in the greatest area but we loved it, the price was up our alley and then the banks and the owner disagreed on the value. They wouldnt come up with the valuation and he wouldnt come down with his price, so we had to let that one go. In hind sight that was probably a good thing. We have now found another place, better area, close to schools (primary & high) and not to far out of our way to get to work etc.Jessica can stay in her creche – I might have to leave home a bit earlier…
We are still waiting for the final goodies from the bank, but sounds positive. We are ‘buying/paying’ more than what we budgeted for – waiting to hear what interest rate they will give us… *holding thumbs its reasonable*. Blapsa has already let us down, as an exciting Blapsa client, we’ve had 2 bonds with them already, they only offer us a 90% loan. Where we should &$%$ the remaining 10% I dont know. I actually asked one of the bank’s consultants, where does he think we should get it from, dont think I’d make a killing standing on a street corner… he was taken aback by my answer and I know its not his fault, but crisis – we’re not 1st time homeloaners…. anyways *please hold thumbs we should hear from FNB by tomorrow latest* // **and yes hubby will be switching banks**
But ja,Β  buying for more than we planned, we kinda wont have extra money to fix things up as we would have liked, at least for the 1st 6 months. But that too shall happen when the time is right (after an increase or two…) At least the house is neat and doesnt need too much work! πŸ™‚

Jessica: our not so little madam is just adding to her vocab every day! This week she loves to say “sit”. Pointing to where she wants to “sit” sometimes it sounds like ‘shite” hehe. She was 18mts on Sat. And trust me she’s a fullblown toddler…with tantrums and all. She is teething again, this time its the eye teeth/K9’s all four of them at once. She’s not too niggle, very much ‘trooping’ thru this – just eating really bad – and the hot weather not helping! At the end of this teething phase she will have 16 teeth! They had their first concert on Friday, 16th. She was a little bunny rabbit, part of the Noah’s ark scene. None of them did the moves they were suppose to, al least she was clapping and swaying and not crying! πŸ™‚ will put up a pic as soon as I get it from school.
This coming Friday we have our last injections – untill she is 5 or 6 yrs old! Whoo hoo…. πŸ™‚
As time goes by I realise Jessica can do a lot more things, than I think she is capable of…

Question: when do you start weening little ones off milk? jessica is currently drinking a min of 3 milk bottles a day, Nan 3. Or should I just change the milk later on? While teething, along with yogurt its the only ‘food’ she gets in! The yogurt makes her a bit chesty, dont want to switch her to cow’s milk yet, Im afraid it might make it worse or even more (?) worse – be an allegry to diary! 😦

Mommy: doing well, still not a yummy mummy…lol. I try to eat better etc, but most days end up munching bread – the root of all evil! I’ve probably gained another 5kgs… Im worried about my sugar. I cant even start my day with a cup of coffee, without having sugar lows. And once it starts it keeps it up for the whole day, dipping and diving. Think thats also why Im gaining weight – I keep eating to ‘correct’ it, but to no avail! Trying to not eat anything sweet alone (like right after a meal), will see how it goes, overwise a visit to the Dr might be the next step…aargh!
Im arranging a babyshower for my sister, on the 1st of Dec. Sounds like the baby might come a bit prem, instead of end Feb, Dr now leaning towards beginning Feb! Im bad at babyshowers…Im one of those people who make the excuses not to go. The ones I did go to, was mind boggeling boring. Maybe its because at the time i didnt have kids myself? Im also not into the whole, making the mom to be look foolish/ridiculous… (no offence to the people who do like all those things- I know it can be fun..) so this is going to be a ‘classy’ affair. Taking into consideration, my sister is quite the perfectionist… I hope it will be to her liking! Im baking the cake myself, doing an ellie cake (elephants) and lekker snacks (again between my mom and myself we will make most of this ourselves). I have a great entertainment idea, which I will divuldge afterwards – incase its not a hit! lol. It is a ‘mixed’ party, men also coming – should be interesting! lol Wish me luck!!

Im writing a novel… apologies for the long read and thank you for reading it all!

Have a great day!!
